East Mesa, Arizona

East Mesa is a rural section of Mesa, Arizona.  The area is generally bounded by Power Road to the west and Meridian Road to the east.  Some sections of East Mesa are unincorporated "county" parcels to which the city has not laid claim.  East Mesa marks the edge of Maricopa county -- once you drive past Meridian Road you enter Pinal County and Apache Junction.

There continues to be a considerable amount of vacant land in East Mesa.  With it's rural roots, the housing tends to be either large parcel horse properties or subdivisions.  Many of the roads are dirt and four-way stop signs rule many major cross streets.

As growth slowly continues, the stop signs get replaced by traffic lights and roads get paved as "civilization" pushes out to this rural area.  Even so, East Mesa continues to be a wonderful place to live as the rural feel of the area has not been destroyed -- it's still possible to watch your neighbors ride down the street on horseback.  Or you can jump in your car and drive ten minutes to world-class resorts like Las Sendas Golf Club or Superstition Springs.  Or visit Power Road, which hosts some of the finest shopping and dining in Arizona.

Schools in the area are typically brand new and first class. Sports facilities are also first class. East Mesa continues to be a great mix of the old and the new.

The SR202 expansion project will most likely have a profound impact on East Mesa.  The Arizona Department of Transportation plans to complete SR202 within the next few years. This brand new road will parallel Power Road and connect East Mesa to SR60 and SR101. This will provide improved access to Scottsdale, Phoenix, Gilbert, Queen Creek, Williams Gateway Airport and many other areas.  It is likely this highway will change East Mesa significantly.
